Global Standards

Globalized pedagogy isn't something you need to add to your long list!  Just integrate the a global lens with your current standards.  Some ideas are below:

(Modern languages) S1. Students can understand the main idea and some details of simple informative materials written for native speakers.

(Modern Languages) S2. Students can use some key cultural traits of the societies in which the target language is spoken.

(Social Studies Framework)

  • Analyze evidence in terms of content, authorship, point of view, bias, purpose, format, and audience.

  • Describe, analyze, and evaluate arguments of others.

  • Participate in activities that focus on a classroom, school, community, state, or national issue or problem.

(Arts) Standard 4: Understanding the Cultural Dimensions and Contributions of the Arts

  • Students will develop an understanding of the personal and cultural forces that shape artistic communication and how the arts in turn shape the diverse cultures of past and present society.

(Global competency)

  • Students can investigate the world with peers in another region to share a common interest.

  • Students can recognize perspectives by using digital communication to with someone their own age.

  • Students can communicate ideas by creating a multimedia artifact on the topic.

  • Students can take action by sharing what they have learned with peers and adults in their schools and communities.

Linked here you can find examples of how you can adapt lessons to incorporate a global perspective in a global studies/ENL co-teach setting and in a modern language classroom.
